11 Inch Pecos 8060 Hawthorne Muleskinner
Pecos boots are a Western-style work boot developed by Red Wing. Originally derived from Spanish riding boots, western boots are pull-on boots with side seams on both sides. Many have a slightly pointed toe and a high heel, which facilitates smooth foot placement and support while riding. Red Wing, formerly based in Texas, also sold Western boots in the 1930s. In 1953, Pecos boots were developed as a simple, durable boot suitable for a variety of work tasks, incorporating Red Wing's signature functional work boot design techniques.
This Pecos, released to celebrate Red Wing's 120th anniversary, features a tall 11-inch shaft but uses the same No. 17 last as the lower 9-inch Pecos. It features a low sole without a heel base, providing comfort and stability like a roper, and combines popular leather for a design that is relevant to today's modern times while maintaining the manufacturing methods used when the Pecos were first created.
The leather used is Hawthorne Muleskinner, an oiled roughout leather. Due to the oil content, it is slightly darker than Hawthorne Abilene, a dry-tanned roughout leather. The deep color of this leather and the brushed texture of the fur creates a boot with a refined aesthetic.
