#8849 is made from the #875's leather in Black Prairie, a black leather with a brown core. The coating is thinner than Red Wing's other black leather with a brown core, Black Klondike, making it more flexible and allowing the leather's grain to shine through. The brown core underneath begins to show through relatively quickly, allowing you to enjoy the aging process even from the very first wear.
