9 Inch Pecos 8168 Hawthorne "Abilene" Roughout
The #8168 was developed in 1996 as a Japanese-designed product based on the #866. It was released in Hawthorne Abilene, a beige rough out leather that was one of Red Wing's three main leathers at the time.
Unlike most suede leathers, which are made by thinly slicing the brushed side of the leather, this leather is used inside out, with the grain (the surface of the leather) where the fibers are most dense on the inside and the brushed side on the outside. It develops a rich, patina with wear and dirt, allowing you to enjoy the changes that occur over time.
We recommend 0.5 size smaller than your most common sneaker size, the same size as your Red Wing Iron Ranger size, or the same size as your Alden Barrie last size.
